Energinet, Denmark’s state-owned grid operator, is expanding its existing site near Fredericia with a new headquarters. The building features a hybrid structure combining timber columns, steel beams and precast concrete floor slabs.

Although the construction appears repetitive, few elements were identical. Variations in height and connector configurations increased the requirements for CAD planning, detailing and part identification, while connection details directly influenced tolerances, the installation sequence and site organisation. The project began with CAD planning of the timber scope and definition of all connection zones. This was followed by interface coordination with the steel beams and precast slabs and fabrication detailing. Deliveries were organised with clear marking and in a sequence aligned to installation phases, enabling on-site assembly to proceed quickly and reliably. The result is greater reliability in terms of scheduling, quality and assembly, even with high variant diversity.
The HASSLACHER group supplied 340 m³ of glulam for a hybrid construction consisting of timber columns, steel beams and precast concrete floor slabs. 270 m³ of glued laminated timber (GLT) was allocated to almost 500 columns. Technical highlights included the atrium beams, which were 1.5 m deep and spanned more than 20 m.
