Train Station Ede - Wageningen
The new Ede-Wageningen station is currently being built by ProRail, NS and the municipality of Ede. This includes a new bus station, new bicycle parking facilities, better foot and cycle paths and more parking spaces.
The canopy of the platforms is particularly impressive. The huge triangles of glulam are divided into main beams, as well as secondary, tertiary and quaternary girders. The main beams are each 27 metres long and form the side edges of the individual triangles. They are pre-assembled and stored on the ground. The secondary, tertiary and quaternary beams form the inner structure of the canopy and, together with the glass roof, protect the passengers from solar radiation and rain.
In order to disrupt ongoing rail traffic operations as little as possible, all 23 triangles have been installed over the platforms and railway tracks over just two weekends.
In addition to the main roof, two more canopies were realised for the station building and the bicycle parking area.
The entire project is being executed on behalf of contractor combination EdesPoort and was carried out in cooperation with De Groot Vroomshoop.
