The local supply center and future neighborhood center FRANKLIN “Grüne Mitte” celebrated its topping-out ceremony on October 23, 2025. The developer of the Mannheim project is Franklin Grüne Mitte mbH (consisting of GBG and 3iPro). The ensemble combines modern commercial and restaurant space with high-quality residential areas and an intensively greened roofscape – a central meeting place for the newly emerging district.
The design by Dutch architecture firm MVRDV in collaboration with Frankfurt architects schneider+schumacher envisages a striking building shape with two structures that rise above a shared underground garage and are separated by a traffic-free axis. The architectural idea of the “green center” – a green, publicly accessible roof garden – not only characterizes the external appearance, but also the sustainable overall concept of the project.
HESS TIMBER was responsible for the planning, production, delivery and assembly of the timber construction for this project and is proud to have been involved in this special building project. The team was delighted to celebrate the successful construction progress together with all those involved in the project at the topping-out ceremony.
