The design of the Google headquarters was provided by Bjarke Ingels(BIG Group) and Thomas Heatherwick (Heatherwick studio), who were previously responsible for the architecture of the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California.
LANDSCRAPER
With the so-called Landscraper developed HESS TIMBER together with Josef Gartner GmbH, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of customized façades, developed the façade system. During the development phase, a 1:1 mock-up of a façade element was constructed on the premises of Josef Gartner GmbH in Gundelfingen an der Donau in order to carry out various load tests and test the weather resistance.
World's largest timber and glass façade
Behind the largest wooden façade in the world (23,300 m² façade area) is created thus new company headquarters for around 7,000 employees of the American technology company Google. Once completed, Google employees will have access to a spacious park with trees, green spaces and a running track on the roof.
