In January 2008, a PPP tender was issued for the construction of a new thermal spa on the site of the former Leopold Koch spa in Bad Orb.The location for the new thermal baths between the graduation tower, spa hotel and the connection to the directly adjacent spa park was the logical further development of the town’s established inner-city structures.
The free-form roof construction of the bathroom consists of a total of 700 individual wooden components. The double-curved glulam edge bends (240 x 800 mm) are made up of 25 sections – each of these elements is unique. The overall structure is complemented by 682 acoustic elements with different geometries: triangular, pentagonal and some with round sections in the area of the edge arches and skylights.
