The new Aarhus Stadium, being built in the Kongelunden area, is a football stadium that combines the identity of the location, its proximity to Marselisborg Forest and the history of the long-established AGF club into a striking architectural form. Conceived as the ‘Arena of the Forest’, the stadium will seat around 24,000 spectators.
Arena of the Forest
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Sweco Architects and Tredje Natur, the stadium takes inspiration from the surrounding forest. Open colonnades, a wooden façade, and a far-reaching roof allow the stadium, the landscape and the city to blend seamlessly together. Views of the forest open up between the glulam ribs of the façade. Public spaces are also being created around the arena, transforming the stadium into a meeting place for the whole city, even on days when there are no matches.
