In September 2018, the Austrian wood-based materials company EGGER began construction of a new production facility for the manufacture of wood-based materials in Lexington, North Carolina, USA. The plant is EGGER’s first production facility in North America. Around 400 new jobs will be created at the site. The decision to build one of the production halls using wood was a conscious one.
"We have very consciously used glued laminated timber beams for the supporting structure of the press building – which is the centerpiece of the plant. This not only enabled us to bring a piece of timber construction tradition from our home in Europe to the United States, but also, as a manufacturer of wood-based materials, to send a clear signal of our commitment to wood as a valuable material."

HESS LIMITLESS
The patented and globally proven HESS LIMITLESS joint system was used. The factory segmentation of the glulam components, which are up to 30 meters long, enabled cost-effective and flexible transport in standardized sea freight containers (ISO containers) from Kleinheubach to North America. On the construction site, 61 connections, so-called construction site joints, were then made using the HESS LIMITLESS joint system.
