Trehus is the first timber office building of its kind in the Southeast of England and forms part of the One Maidenhead masterplan developed by HUB and Smedvig. Covering around 6,000 m² (65,000 sq ft), it will provide Grade A office space built to the highest sustainability standards. The name Trehus – Norwegian for House of Wood – reflects the consistent use of timber as the building’s primary construction material. Compared to a conventional steel-frame structure, this approach significantly improves the building’s overall carbon footprint.
INNOVATIVE TIMBER PRODUCT SOLUTIONS
HESS TIMBER was commissioned by the general contractor Glencar for the timber construction. Innovative products from the HASSLACHER Group were used, including cross-laminated timber and BauBuche glulam, which enables particularly slender column cross-sections and volume savings in the overall structure thanks to its outstanding mechanical properties.
SUSTAINABLE OFFICE ARCHITECTURE
Designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects, the building targets BREEAM Outstanding, FITWEL 3* certification, and net zero carbon across its entire lifecycle. With Trehus, a new landmark for sustainable office architecture in the UK is taking shape.
