Daramu House is located next to International House Sydney, Australia’s first commercial multi-storey timber office building. Daramu means tree in the language of the indigenous people of Australia. The six-storey office building has a floor space of 10,000 m².
The prefabricated glulam was shipped to Australia by sea freight. The structural and special design of the glulam is based on the development of the composite beams used for the first time in the sister building International House Sydney. With these composite beams – glulam composite components in combination with BauBuche (LVL) – large and numerous openings can be realized in a glulam beam without any restriction of the load-bearing capacity or the clear height and without further reinforcement measures using steel components.
